It never occurs to me that music production might seem just as exciting to other people as it is to me. So when people ask me what I’ve been up to, I say “oh, just stuff…” because I don’t want to bore them.
But people do genuinely seem to be interested, so I thought I’d give a quick update about what’s been going on through the past few months. Which is this, that you’re reading, right here.
I’m working with more solo artists than ever and people that I’ve worked with this year and should be releasing material soon include (deep breath) Abigail Peterson, Allison Gray, Ben York, Clairemma Beattie, Conor Johnson, Crystal Rose, Dan Hadfield, David Lacey, Elise Altoft, George Simpson, Graham Clark, Howard Bates, James Stanton, Justin Weir, Karl William Lund, Lewis Hall, Lexis, Matt Elliott, Neil Woolfson, Phil Lewis, Richard Lane, Ruth Discua, Sally-Anne Marler, Sarah Quirke, Scot Cowan, Stuart Brown and Tom Bright.
Honestly, I’m constantly astounded by some of the songs and voices that come into the studio, and it’s a pleasure that they entrust me to help them get their tracks sounding the best they can.
Of course, the other side of what I do is music for adverts, explainer videos and animations. I’ve been supplying music and general other sound stuff to Mair Perkins, Bottletop, The Strand, Katapult, RJDM, Big Ant and a few others.
My goal for the next year is to bump things up a bit. I’m going to try and get a few production cuts with newly signed artists, and I’m going to be doing a lot more co-writing too. Aside from that, I’ve been approached by a very reputable music library so I’m putting together some tracks for them. And if I ever find the time, I want to try and blog more regularly!
So there we go, that’s what I’ve been up to. I hope you’re all having an excellent summer and if you ever need me, you know where I am.
